Mission Australia Centre, Chigwell House provides a range of programs that assist clients to address personal issues and enable them to secure and maintain stable housing.

Parents Staying Connected (a partnership between the Smith Family and Mission Australia) program is for local families who would like to be involved in the community and meet new people, to move forward in life and connect to education and local services.  We offer a friendly small group program for mums of all ages.  We aim to provide ongoing learning opportunities for both parents and children.  If you would like to get your children off to a great start, this program could be for you!  Please contact Shelley on 6275 7000 for further information. 

Mission Australia Housing commenced in 2009. While still in its early stages, this program will soon be able to provide a range of accommodation options for individuals and families who are in need of secure and affordable housing.  Please contact Annie at Chigwell House on 1300 884 231 for more information or visit mahousing.com.au

Integrated Family Support Service (IFSS) 
aims to provide vulnerable children and families with individual support promoting the wellbeing and safety of children and young people. IFSS offers families an outreached based service which, through talking together and identifying needs, aims to strengthen relationships, develop skills and facilitate referrals to appropriate services.  IFSS is a family support service for eligible families referred from Gateway.  Please contact Alayne on 6275 7000 for more information. 

Youth Beat provides a mobile outreach service to young people in the City of Glenorchy.  Its focus is to connect with young people at risk of homelessness.  The service operates on weekends and evenings providing supported referral to traditional support services.  Please contact Chris on 0407 866 107. 

Youth Connections (YC) is a new program that will be working with the Education Department in the South East. The aim is to support young people who are at risk of disengaging, or those that have already disengaged, from education or training. The program aims to build resilience and improve the personal skills and well being of young people. Youth Connections will assist these young people to make a successful transition through education and onto further education, training or work. Community Garden project is for men, women, children and young people with support from our Parents Staying Connectioned and MA Housing programs.  Chigwell House has received a grant from the Department of Premier and Cabinet to establish a community garden.  Vegetables will be shared between participants and Eat Well Tasmania will provide training for food preparation and nutritious meals. The Ellison Room
This room has recently been completely refurbished and would comfortably accommodate up to 50 people theatre style.  An adjacent foyer area is suitable for any catering requirements.

The McPhee Room
This room is completely new and suitable for meetings and training sessions.  The room is 14.5 square metres and is flexible enough to allow for groups of 5 – 20 people. An adjacent foyer area is suitable for any catering requirements.

Others services available at Chigwell House:


  • A Child Health Nurse visits Chigwell House every three weeks on a Friday.  Please phone 6233 8900 for appointments.
  • A Solicitor has also volunteered her services and will come to Chigwell House should there be a need from the community.
  • Centrelink is available by appointment at Chigwell House on a Thursday morning to provide information to the community. You can lodge your form or ask any questions you may have. Please phone Chigwell House on 6275 7000 to make an appointment.
  • Cooking Sessions are also able to be arranged for member of the community to attend.  We are seeking interest from parents in the community who would like to be involved in cooking session at Chigwell House.  Anyone interested please Contact the Centre.
