Wagga Youth Connections (NSW)

wagga-youth-connections-frontWagga Youth Connections (WYC), previously known as Verity House, provides a range of services to young people and their families in Wagga Wagga, NSW.

WYC acknowledges that family and adult carers play a vital role in a young person’s development - we therefore deliver services that encourage family involvement, restoration and mediation where it is in the best interest of the young person. Education, training and employment goals are incorporated into the case planning process and introduced to young clients as the essentials for achieving long term stability.


WYC offers a flexible range of programs to address the varied needs of young clients:


Adolescent and Family Connections (AFC) 
The AFC program provides the following services to young people aged between 12-18 and their families where there has been or is a risk of breakdown: 
  • Individual counseling to help young people and better manage their relationships 
  • Programs that help young people boost their self esteem, confidence and resilience. 
  • Family counseling to help family members deal with conflict 
  • Family mediation / restoration

Youth Outreach Support (YOS) 
YOS is a voluntary case management based program supporting young people who are disadvantaged or at risk. The youth outreach support program is an early intervention model focussed on homelessness prevention strategies. Case management can include:
  • Practical Assistance 
  • Family mediation
  • Case planning – identifying the young persons strengths, risks and needs 
  • Personal development 
  • Advocacy and referral 
  • Information and advice 
  • Education programs such as life skills, budgeting, protective behaviours, are provided during school holidays 
  • Linkages to access services in the community to assist with health, education, employment, income and support services. 
  • Information and advice on Homeless prevention to Community organisations, groups, Schools, TAFE and individuals

Intensive Accommodation 
Intensive Accommodation provides a 24/7 supervised crisis accommodation service for young people (15-17 years) who are experiencing crisis.  Case management can include:
  • Generalist counselling and access to formalised counselling 
  • Case Management 
  • Family mediation 
  • Personal skills development 
  • Supported referrals 
  • Accommodation and support plans 
  • Linkages to access services in the community 
  • Support and reconciliation for young people with family / carers 
  • Family restoration / mediation 
  • Planned respite care 
  • Advocacy
