Lemongrove Lodge Transitional Youth Services (NSW)

Mission Australia’s Lemongrove Lodge Transitional Youth Services provides secure accommodation for young people, aged 16-21, who are disadvantaged, at risk or homeless.

While living at Lemongrove Lodge young people receive support and assistance with a range of issues including: living skills development, budgeting, hygiene, menu planning/cooking, recreational activities, referral, advice, resume preparation, health, mental health, alcohol & other drug use,  legal, family reconciliation (when mutually requested) and exit housing.

The Outreach Program for young people, aged 17-24, provides transport, meals, laundry, court support, retrieval/storage and removal of belongings. There are links to other services for brokerage, counseling, health, other accommodation options and exit housing. Young people who have exited the accommodation service are encouraged to maintain significant relationships with staff by ‘dropping in’ and keeping us up to date on how they are going.

The Nepean Supported Living Program is available to young people who are exiting Lemongrove Lodge. Units are supplied by local community housing providers and on-going case management is provided.

Sydney’s west has a high level of youth unemployment, poverty, family breakdown, violence and homelessness. (Area covered: Penrith, Blue Mountains, Hawkesbury region/Mt Druitt).

We target young people (16-24). Referrals come from young people, other refuges, family, friends, schools, health professionals, police and Department of Community Services.

Many of the young people we work with exhibit challenging behaviours and numerous mental health issues. This usually stems from childhood trauma, abuse, neglect, drug and alcohol issues, domestic violence and poverty.
