Grandparents Raising Grandchildren support program

Mission Australia's Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Support Program in the Shoalhaven region, NSW comprises a range of initiatives to assist grandparent-headed families to develop their parenting skills, confidence and self esteem, while developing a support network with others in a similar situation.

We provide:

• Educational workshops and groups that assist grandparents to deal with the real complexities of parenting the second time round
• Assist grandparents to access supplementary services that will provide additional support
• Practical solutions to the complex needs of families adjusting to the different stages of raising their grandchildren
• Advocacy, counselling, support and case management
• Information on financial help available to grandparents raising their grandchildren
• Large range of social activities such as picnics, BBQs, shopping trips, dinners, respite weekends, etc
• Weekly support group meetings and coffee mornings
