  • A transition to school program

Families can also consult with a speech pathologist, an occupational therapist and a family support worker.

Early Childhood Intervention Service

This program provides support for young children who have diagnosed disabilities or developmental delays. Working in partnership with families and other professionals, staff help children to reach their full potential.

Groups focus on developing children’s play, social and communication skills, with specialist support provided by a speech pathologist and occupational therapist.

The preschool offers the following programs:

  • Early Play Intervention – run weekly for 10 children with diagnosed developmental delay or disabilities and their families
  • Interplay Intervention Group – is an autism-specific weekly program for up to 10 children and their families.
  • Preschool Autism Class (PACS) – An autism-specific group for 10 children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The class is held two days a week.

Family Support Program

This program aims to provide families and carers with practical strategies and support to promote child and family wellbeing.

The comprehensive range of family services includes parenting programs and workshops, a resource library, referral and advocacy as well as individual and family counselling.

For further information on the above services, download the Miller Community Preschool Fact Sheet.

South West Early Childhood Support (SWECS)

Operating across South West Sydney and covering the Local Government Areas of Fairfield, Liverpool, Campbelltown, Camden and Wollondilly, this program supports children from birth to school-entry age who have disabilities or delays. It also caters for children for whom there are concerns about their development and/or behaviour.

Support is offered to community-based and private long day care centres, preschools, occasional care services, family day care schemes and supported playgroups.

Referrals to the SWECS program can be made either by families, agencies or professionals with parental permission. Priority of access to this service is given to children who are attending school the following year, children whose inclusion in the early childhood setting is ‘at risk’ and staff who are not receiving support from other service providers.

For further information download the SWECS Fact Sheet.
