Coastal Sydney Aboriginal Tenancy Support Service (CSATSS) (NSW) |
|
Funded through Housing NSW as part of the Regional Homelessness Action Plan, CSATSS aims to reduce the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Coastal Sydney Region who are vulnerable to homelessness and suffering rental stress, through prevention, early intervention and support. To achieve this, the service works with Housing NSW, Community Housing, Aboriginal Housing, Aboriginal Legal Centres and Aboriginal Health Services. Forming part of the Regional Sydney Homelessness Action Plan – Coastal Sydney, CSATSS covers 27 Local Government Areas from Hornsby through to Sutherland and inland to Strathfield. The CSATSS office in Marrickville can clearly be seen from the street, which means that people in need can easily locate the service. Potential service users can access CSATSS services either by simply walking in or phoning (self-referral), or through an agency, which sends a completed referral form back to CSATSS. Referrals can be from any community service, including Housing NSW, the Aboriginal Medical Service and community housing providers. To receive support, a client will need to identify as being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and display rental stress indicators that make them vulnerable to homelessness. Clients may receive any or all of the following services:
