Pathways away from homelessness:
Roma House
Roma House is a breakthrough in services for homeless people in Queensland. It provides accommodation and support services for up to 39 long-term homeless people at any one time. The service provides:
- Meals
- Recreational activities
- Access to health care and other community services
- Tailored case management support for each person
Café One on Wickham
Café One on Wickham is a café where people who are homeless, or at-risk of homelessness, can access a range of services. Café One on Wickham provides:
- Low cost meals
- Referrals
- Flexible and informal case management
- Crisis counselling
- Advocacy
The café also offers access to visiting service providers, including Centrelink, Spiritus, and a community legal clinic run by the Queensland Public Interest Law Clearing House.
Accommodation Support Programme
The Accommodation Support Programme in Townsville provides a range of services for clients who are participating in the Queensland State Government Drug Court program. The 24-hour service provides practical support for clients trying to rehabilitate and re-establish themselves in the community.
Pathways to strong families and healthy, happy children:
Pathways to Prevention Project, Inala
The Pathways to Prevention Project is an innovative crime prevention and early intervention partnership between Mission Australia and Griffith University. Operating as a family support service, Pathways supports families with children aged 4-12 in the Inala and Carole Park areas of Brisbane. The program improves the opportunities of children by developing their social, communication and behavioural skills while enhancing the ability of caregivers to respond to their child's needs appropriately.
Project Circuit Breaker
Project Circuit Breaker is a free, mobile prevention and early intervention service based in Brisbane’s northern suburbs. It supports families with children aged 9-17 and helps them make positive changes in their lives. Project circuit breaker offers the following services:
- Individual, family and group counselling
- Conflict resolution
- Negotiation skills
- Advocacy
- Community engagement and development
- Practical skills development
- Referrals and links to other services
Referral for Action Intervention Services
These services provide intensive early intervention and prevention assistance to families with children aged 0-8. The Queensland Department of Child Safety refers the families - who volunteer to take part - to the service. Referral for Action Intervention Services operate in Ipswich, Caboolture, Deception Bay, Inala and Goodna. They provide:
- Pro-active engagement
- Outreach support
- Group work
- Case management interventions
