Liverpool Family Day Care (NSW)
Liverpool Family Day Care provides quality child care and education for children aged up to 12 years in the homes of registered Educators who are recruited and supported by qualified staff.
The service recognises that children learn through play, and we use The Early Years Learning Framework, in partnership with parents, to develop learning programs responsive to children’s ideas, interests, strengths and abilities.
The program is located in the south-western Sydney suburb of Miller and has Educators across the Liverpool Local Government Area.
Families contact the service directly and are matched with Educators who are most appropriate to their needs.
The service runs a daily playgroup program aimed at further developing the social, emotional and cognitive skills of children, while providing support and guidance for the Educators.
Holiday activity days are also held to support the development and interests of the school-aged children in care.
The benefits
Participating in Liverpool Family Day Care can benefit both children and their parents. Children can increase their developmental skills while parents gain the ability to participate in employment, education or training, thus enhancing families’ opportunities to achieve economic wellbeing.
Children benefit through the small group care with individualised attention from the Educator, who becomes familiar with the child and family, and learns to understand their individual needs. Educators also work in partnership with the family for the benefit of the child.
By developing nurturing relationships with their Educator, children’s self-esteem is also positively impacted. One parent said:
“My Educator’s approach and personality has made a big impact on my daughter and she has gained independence and confidence. She is more talkative and confident when communicating with children and adults alike.”
Educators and families have the support of the Liverpool Family Day Care Coordination Unit, which consists of early childhood staff and administrative support.
The unit’s staff provide resources and information and regularly visit Educators to assist in the provision of a high quality service.
