Who are Mission Australia and what do they do?

Mission Australia is an empowering and compassionate community service organisation. We have been helping to transform the lives of Australians in need for more than 150 years. Arising historically from Brisbane City Mission and Sydney City Mission, our founding purpose is to meet human need and to give expression to the love of God. We believe in helping Australians in need get back on their feet. We are committed to eliminating disadvantage and creating a fairer Australia. With more than 450 services across metropolitan, rural and regional Australia – in every state and territory - we assist more than 300,000 people each year.

National Survey of Young Australians

Each year, Mission Australia conducts the largest survey of young Australians.  Our objective is to uncover the issues that concern youth. We survey an average of  45,500 respondents, between ages 11-24. Participants come from every state and territory around the country.

Mission Australia's survey is a valuable snapshot into the minds of young Australians and provides a wealth of important information for anyone interested in their wellbeing.

Transparency

As one of the largest national community service organisations, Mission Australia strives to be transparent in everything we do. Each year we work to deliver the most accurate and honest report we can for our donors, partners, staff and clients so that they know we are using our money shrewdly and getting the best outcomes from the resources we have. Mission Australia has been recognised at the annual PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Transparency Awards for the financial years of 2007-08 and 2008-09.  The awards recognise the quality and transparency of reporting among Australian charities, and encourage not-for-profits to be more professional in their reporting.
