Citi

Citi supports Mission Australia's financial education services in south west Sydney, and provided the funding for the establishment of the Financial Education, Counselling and Community Hub.

The Hub aims to provide:

  • Prevention and early intervention programs to educate the local community about budgeting and how to access support early when families are at risk of financial crisis
  • Crisis support through referrals to financial and gambling counselling
  • Transitional and longer-term support to help break the cycle of hardship, with access to case management and referrals to employment services programs.

In 2010, Citi assisted Mission Australia to expand the services at the Hub to include an extensive Financial Education program operating in South West Sydney.

This program assists people with their financial management skills before they reach crisis point, and has had significant success in achieving behavioural change for participants.

In addition, Citi employees assist Mission Australia through volunteering and staff fundraising activities.

Citi has also helped tranform young lives at Charcoal Lane, a Mission Australia social enterprise that enables Aboriginal and disadvantaged young people to gain experience in a supported, real work environment while building personal skills and gaining accredited education in hospitality.
