Aim’n High (VIC)
The Aim’n High program is a collaboration between Mission Australia, Hallam Senior Secondary College and South East Local Learning and Employment Network.
It aims to assist young mothers in the Greater Dandenong region to complete their mainstream education in a supportive learning environment.
This program enables young mothers aged 16 to 19 to focus on their school studies off-campus at the Mission Australia Early Learning Service centre in Doveton, while their children receive high-quality care.
Aim'n High also provides intensive case management and parenting education to help the young women meet the demands of parenthood and study.
Young mothers attend the Aim’n High program four days a week and receive practical assistance, including:
- VCE classes
- Homework support
- High-quality childcare
- Government subsidised childcare fees
- Family education and support
- Personal development and career activities
- A team approach that enables mothers to reach educational and family goals.
An important part of Aim’n High’s success is that attendance is voluntary. Participants are there because they see the value in keeping up with their education to secure a job and to become positive role models for their children.
Aim’n High is funded by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, Connections Uniting Care and the School Focused Youth Service.
