RACV is partnering with Mission Australia in 2009/10 to develop and drive an innovative program assisting people with low literacy and numeracy levels to obtain their learner's permit. This exciting program assists people in overcoming the initial barriers to becoming confident, responsible, licensed drivers - and it is all made possible by funds provided by RACV.
Participants are offered a literacy and numeracy program based on the VicRoads learner's permit handbook, that involves joining a practical class that is offered in small groups with one-on-one tuition where available.
The program is helping 150 disadvantaged young people aged 17-24 from a range of Mission Australia's services in the Melbourne metropolitan area, Frankston, Dandenong, Bendigo, Shepparton and Gippsland.
This partnership reflects RACV's commitment to the community as well as road safety and responsible driving.
