Mission Australia welcomes funding for Homeless Persons’ Legal Clinic

Some of Queensland’s most disadvantaged will continue to have access to vital legal support and advice thanks to a decision by the Queensland Government to continue funding for the Queensland Public Interest Legal Clearing House’s (QPILCH) Homeless Persons’ Legal Clinic (HPLC).
Leading community organisation Mission Australia has welcomed the Attorney-General’s announcement that $200,000 in funding has been allocated from the Legal Practitioners Interest on Trust Accounts Fund (LIPITAF) to ensure the important service can continue.
Budget of swings and roundabouts

Mission Australia has characterised the Federal Government’s 2013 Budget as “swings and roundabouts” with missed opportunities scattered among the positive initiatives.
Mission Australia’s CEO, Toby Hall, said the government deserved congratulation on major initiatives such as the NDIS and Gonski education reforms but had left untouched many other areas needing serious action.
National Volunteer Week 2013: Thanks a million!

This National Volunteer Week we want to say ‘thanks a million’ to the many wonderful volunteers who give their time and talents to Mission Australia.
More than six million Australians volunteer each year, and we’re honoured to work with 3,000 of them. Our volunteers contribute so much time and value to our community support services.
They do everything from carry out administration tasks, teach art and English to new arrivals, working in our Big Heart op shops and helping to run events.
Living with teenagers: free information sessions for parents and carers

Living with a teenager is not always a picnic, but a little understanding of what goes on in those adolescent brains and the challenges they face can go a long way.
Mission Australia's Clifton Adolescent and Family Support (CAFS) and Youth Connections, in partnership with 2realise, Hornsby Council, Northern Sydney Medicare Local and Hornsby Child and Adolescent Mental Health, are once again presenting a series of free information nights for parents living with teenagers.
