Marie Howard, our National Director of Early Learning Services, has been appointed to the National Board of Directors of Early Childhood Australia (ECA) for a three-year term. Marie has been a member of the Victorian branch of ECA – the national umbrella organisation for children's services – for the past three years in the role of Honorary Treasurer. The ECA’s mission is to advocate, ensuring quality, social justice and equity in all issues relating to the education and care of children from birth to eight years. This week Marie will be sworn in as an official board member at the annual ECA National Council Meeting in Hobart. Sitting on the National Board of Directors, Marie’s role will include providing governance and long-term planning of the organisation, implementation of the organisation's strategic plan and ensuring ECA fulfils its mission to advocate for young children. “I’m extremely excited about the appointment. It will be a fantastic opportunity to work with others in the sector and to influence policy on issues affecting children. “It’s also a great way to increase awareness of our Early Learning Services and to profile the services Mission Australia ELS can provide,” said Marie. Mission Australia operates 29 Early Learning Centres in New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory. Our centres provide high-quality learning and care for children aged six weeks to six years of age, and seek to connect young children with the natural world and their communities.
