The survey of more than 46,000 young people aged between 11 and 24-years-old, which was officially released Wednesday 30 November, revealed that concerns about school or study problems were the top personal concerns for young people. Soon after the survey’s release, several young people spoke to local media about their concerns: Nomiundari Ulziibodijau, a student at Lismore High School, told The Northern Star that she needs to achieve good marks in her HSC and at university to reach her chosen career path of engineering. "What worries me most is getting into university and getting a good job," she said. The Daily Liberal took to the streets of Dubbo, New South Wales, asking if young people were “more stressed than ever before”. Ethan Ryan disagreed and said young people think they are under pressure today but the problem really is them growing up quickly: "No, not really. Kids are growing up before their time," he told The Daily Liberal. James Rogers said that the expectations placed upon students to do really well and get degrees causes the stress. "I think so," he said. "There is more expectation to get qualifications.” How do you think young Australians view the world? |
