Audi turns cars into gifts for kids

22 December 2011

Audi-160The Audi dealer network has generously presented Mission Australia with thousands of gifts to distribute to children in need this Christmas.

At the official hand-over ceremony in Sydney last week Mission Australia CEO Toby Hall gratefully accepted gifts from Audi’s Managing Director, Uwe Hagen, and Gareth Bryant, Chairman of the Audi Dealer Association.

Throughout the year Audi and its national network of dealerships set aside money from every vehicle sale to purchase the gifts and play equipment for children from families doing it tough. In partnership with Mission Australia, Audi’s Christmas gift project will help to spread a little bit of Christmas cheer to disadvantaged families and children.

Mr Hagen said Audi was keen to send a strong message of appreciation to the community for supporting its 14,500 vehicle sales throughout the year. “By working with a national charity that helps to support children who may otherwise not receive gifts this Christmas, Audi, as a luxury brand, is able to share its successful business result with the entire community,“ Mr Hagen said.

Mr Bryant, who is also dealer principal of Audi Penfold in Burwood in Victoria, said the entire national network of Audi dealers had supported the work of Mission Australia through this Christmas gift project.

The decision was made to put aside $5 for every single vehicle sold as part of the Christmas gift project. The Audi team then worked with Mission Australia to identify the toys and equipment that is needed to improve the circumstances of children in the community.

Nature Play Australia, Faber Castel, adidas, Simply Giving and Pre-School Equipment all played a part in the Christmas gift project, supplying toys and activity equipment at a significant discount in order to spread cheer to more children in need this Christmas.

A big thanks to Audi and all the suppliers who have supported this project for their thoughtfulness and generosity.
