febfast is a national health and fundraising initiative that challenges people to take a break from the booze during the shortest month in the year. Participants raise money that enables young Australians to take control of their lives and overcome alcohol and other drug problems. By taking part this February you’ll also set a positive example for young Australians. According to the 2010 National Drug Strategy Household Survey, one in six young people aged from 12 to 19 consume alcohol on a daily or weekly basis and one in five people aged 14 years or older consumed alcohol at a level that put them at risk of harm from alcohol-related disease or injury over their lifetime. The febfast concept is simple. Step away from the bottle in February and have friends, family and workmates sponsor you. Register at www.febfast.org.au, find febfast on Facebook or follow us on Twitter. Any money you raise during febfast will go towards services that help young people to overcome drug and alcohol issues, including Mission Australia’s Youth Beat services in Tasmania and South Australia. Get in quick for early bird registration and save 20% on registration. Early bird registration will close on 14 January 2012. Once registered, you can build a personalised febfast page where you can direct your family and friends. So do your body, and young Australians, a favour and become a febfaster! febfast 2011 febfast 2011 contributed to a Youth Beat after hours mobile support van offering support to young people by providing information and a pathways to other vital services.
