Put your unused sports gear to good use

16 January 2012

Man-on-a-bike-160New Year is a time for resolutions and clean-outs. If you’ve promised to put that cobwebbed treadmill in the spare room to better use in 2012, Mission Australia partner Fit for Good may be able to help.

Fit for Good is a charitable foundation that enables fitness professionals and businesses to reach out to Australians in need through healthy initiatives.

As a Mission Australia partner, Fit For Good provides our community services with exercise professionals who teach free classes and give healthy lifestyle talks.

Along with The Mundy Family, Kiama City Council and The Friends in Giving Society, Fit For Good recently funded a new on-site gym at Triple Care Farm – Mission Australia’s acclaimed residential program for young people experiencing homelessness, substance abuse, mental illness or acute behavioural problems.

Fit For Good also collects donated sports gear and exercise equipment that can be passed on to Mission Australia services, helping people doing it tough to get fit.

Can you help?

fitforgood-logo 225Fit for Good is currently looking for a second-hand (or new even!) bicycle as a form of transportation for a Mission Australia client in inner-city Sydney.

If you or anyone you know is looking to get rid of a bike that’s taking up space in your garage, please consider giving it a new lease of life.

Fit For Good is also on the hunt for new or good-quality second-hand footy boots (all codes) and shin guards, as well as any exercise equipment or clothing.

If you or anyone you know is able to help Fit For Good to work with disadvantaged Australians, please email becky@fitforgood.org.au or call (02) 8412 7408 on Monday, Wednesday or Friday.
