The country music writer and performer sang the praises of Mission Australia at every opportunity during his appearances at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, telling television and radio interviewers - including 2GB’s Ray Hadley - about our efforts to create a fairer Australia for all. Paul even drove a Mission Australia-branded ute in the official festival parade, which was watched by 50,000 country music fans.
Along the way, and with the help of Cheryl O’Donnell, our Southern NSW Community Services Operations Manager Mission Australia, the country star gave out Mission Australia balloons to onlookers. The four-time Golden Guitar nominee also spread the word at his festival gig at the Capitol Theatre, where he showcased material from his upcoming In This Life album – including Shine, the song he has dedicated to Mission Australia. “During the concert Paul mentioned Mission Australia about five times, and everyone cheered and whistled when he finished singing Shine,” said Ms O’Donnell. “Before Paul got up to present at the Golden Guitar Awards he was introduced as an Ambassador for Mission Australia – and I couldn’t have been prouder. “We’re truly fortunate to have this very talented and passionate performer on our side, helping us to create a fairer Australia. On behalf of all our frontline staff, who work on the ‘frontline’ out in communities across the nation, thank you Paul for your dedication and support.” Help create a fairer Australia for all You can help Mission Australia to assist families, young people and individuals who are struggling to get back on their feet and share in the riches of this Lucky Country of ours.
