Urban Quest (NT)

Mission Australia’s Urban Quest, our annual talent competition, is once again giving young Territorians the chance to shine and learn from the industry’s best!

What is it all about?
It’s much more than just a singing competition. This celebration of music and community helps young people build self-esteem and confidence. It also raises awareness of services that help young people overcome challenges at home, school and in the community.

Promoting diversity and acceptance, Mission Australia’s Urban Quest is open to young Territorians aged between 10 - 19 years. All musical styles – from rock to rap and country – and bands and solo acts are welcome.

When is it held?
Heats will be held in Darwin, Malak, Katherine and Alice Springs in May. Twenty acts will then perform at Mission Australia’s Urban Quest Semi Finals at Casuarina Square on 28 June.

The top 10 will be mentored by music industry veteran Mark Holden and country star Paul Costa. Over three days, they’ll learn techniques and tips to wow the crowds at Mission Australia’s Urban Finals Concert – a family-friendly show at the Darwin Waterfront Precinct on 6 July.

James Mangohig from Darwin electronic soul duo Sietta will join Mark and Paul to judge the Finals Concert.

Alice Springs heats

• 15 May, 3pm – 6pm - Youth Hub, Wills Terrace, Alice Springs 

Katherine heats

• 19 May, 9am – 3pm - McDouall Stuart Hall, Katherine Showgrounds, Katherine

Urban Quest Semi-Final

• 28 June, 3pm - Casuarina Square, Food Court Area

Urban Quest Finals Concert

• 6 July, 6pm - Darwin Waterfront Precinct

• Registration forms will be accepted in person at the heats
• Performers aged under 18 need a parent or guardian to sign their registration form to be eligible to enter
• Please include a current photo (not wearing sunglasses!) with your application.
