Youth Beat (SA, TAS and WA)

youth-beat-car-and-workerYouth Beat is a Mission Australia safety and early intervention program supporting young people on the streets of Adelaide’s CBD and Hobart’s northern suburbs.

The brightly coloured vans are manned by professional youth workers who provide relief for alcohol and drug-fuelled disorderly behaviour and support young people experiencing homelessness.

These services aim to improve young people’s safety by diverting them from risky behaviour and crime, providing information and guidance, and connecting them with local community services.

A key feature of the model is follow-up support with young people and their families. Youth Beat helps young people to successfully become strong, healthy adults who play active roles in the social, cultural and economic life of their communities.

Our Youth Beat workers support young people to:

  • Stay safe in public places.
  • Overcome drug and alcohol stress
  • Receive accommodation support
  • Connect with their community
  • Plan for the future
