Philosophy statement

The principles that underpin the Mission Australia early learning approach -

• We believe that early childhood is a crucial time in the development of each individual. For this reason we will work in partnership with children and their families to ensure the best possible start in life.
• We provide a nurturing environment where each child has the opportunity to learn within the context of caring relationships with carers. Our educators will establish and foster learning partnerships with children and their parents.
• We provide a learning environment that is safe, secure and well maintained. Our environment is inclusive and reflects value and respect for the diversity of children’s backgrounds and the communities in which they live.
• Our learning framework will be based on best practice and principles of accountability. We will collaborate with children, their families and the community to plan, develop, implement and continually improve a high quality curriculum.
• We recognise and promote play based learning in which children are able to express their ideas and engage in exploration, imagination, experimentation and creativity.
• We recognise that each child’s learning pathway takes place within the context of their family and community. For this reason we will promote partnerships with parents and community services to ensure families are supported to meet the needs of their children.
