Mannering Park centre philosophy:
- We believe that all children are individuals. We realise each child learns and develops at different rates. We believe each child needs an individual program with individual goals. Therefore all rooms program for various learning abilities and skills.
- We believe parents, families and children should be treated with total equality, respect and value for their uniqueness. Children are encouraged to develop an understanding of respect and pride of one's own individuality and culture. We also believe children are to be encouraged to express, promote and maintain their uniqueness and individuality as they become valuable members of the world and it is our responsibility to foster this concept.
- We also believe it is important for children to be provided with the opportunity to revisit previous discoveries, inventions, interests and experiences in a range of medias, thus children are to be provided with every opportunity to extend all areas of development and also to suit each individual child's levels of development. Our curriculum is underpinned by the Early Years Learning Framework and borrows from the practices of Reggio Emilia.
- We believe working in partnership with parents is beneficial for children and endeavour to do this with every family. We believe in providing the opportunity and encouragement for staff, families and the community to engage in communication and actively utilize the open door policy to benefit the children and service which is then incorporated into the program.
- We have empathy and full understanding of respect, honesty, equity and equality of families from culturally diverse and various socioeconomic backgrounds.
- We believe that a strong bond with every child and individual is essential.
- We believe children learn through play. Children's work is play. Actively exploring a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment that has been planned for by observing the needs, strengths and interests of the children in individual and group situations will enhance children's skills in all areas.
- Each child's day should be filled with fun, laughter and love in a positive, secure environment while developing essential life skills.
- Children should feel safe and secure to explore their environment and develop their skills.
- It is our belief to teach children how to interact towards each other in a safe and friendly way through role modeling. This will teach children how to use positive encouragement and displaying positive behaviours towards each other. Staff will teach children to learn socially acceptable behaviours through play experiences and group times.
- Staff share a life-long love of learning and engage in professional development, reflective and evaluative practice.
- Staff strive to utilise natural resources to encourage exploration and investigation of the natural world
