About our centre director, Melissa Luscombe:

I have worked in the childcare industry for the past 16 years. I worked as a group leader and then director for 8 years and currently completing my advanced diploma.  I have been at Boronia Early Learning  for 13 years. Our centre is like one big family that is what make is unique. All staff know all families and children attending the service. My Early Years Learning philosophy is that I believe that early childhood is a crucial time in the development of a child and all children deserve the best possible start in life.

I believe that children should be provided with an environment where they are given opportunities to grow and develop at their own level. I believe this should be done through educational and stimulating programs plus providing children with an open and friendly environment that encourages children to form strong relationships with carers and peers.

I believe that having open relationships with both children and their families provides a safe and inviting environment where children and families feel welcomed accepted and wanted to be a part of the service.

I believe by providing this type of service then all families and children have positive experiences throughout their time during the early childhood years.

Boronia centre philosophy:

We believe that early childhood is a crucial time in the development of each individual. For this reason we will work in partnership with children and their families to ensure the best possible start in life.

We provide a nurturing environment where each child has the opportunity to learn within the context of caring relationships with carers. Our educators will establish and foster learning partnerships with children and their parents.

We will provide a learning environment that is safe, secure and well maintained. Our environment is inclusive and reflects value and respect for the diversity of children's backgrounds and the communities in which they live.

Our learning framework will be based on best practice and principles of accountability. We will collaborate with children, their families and the community to plan, develop, implement and continually improve a high quality curriculum.

We recognise and promote play based learning in which children are able to express their ideas and engage in exploration, imagination, experimentation and creativity.

We recognise that each child's learning pathway takes place within the context of their family and community. For this reason we will promote partnerships with parents and community services in an integrated service model that ensures families are supported to meet the needs of their children.
