About our centre director, Julia Foldes:

Where did you come from?
My nationality is Hungarian. I came to Australia 28 years ago.

What gets you out of bed in the morning?
The challenging work gets me out of my bed every morning and the great staff I am working with. I have lots of responsibilities in my job, but end of the day I am very happy that I have contributed to my centre and it's a most rewarding feeling.

What do you feel is unique about your centre?
Our centre is very multicultural and it is very family orientated. I like children's individual personalities.

What is your own early years learning philosophy?
My philosophy is based on evidence and what is socially and culturally important. Learning through play, supporting children's learning and improving quality are extremely important to me.

Eumemmerring centre philosophy:

We believe that early childhood is a crucial time in the development of each individual. For this reason we will work in partnership with children and their families to ensure the best possible start in life.

We provide a nurturing environment where each child has the opportunity to learn within the context of caring relationships with carers. Our educators will establish and foster learning partnerships with children and their parents.

We will provide a learning environment that is safe, secure and well maintained. Our environment is inclusive and reflects value and respect for the diversity of children's backgrounds and the communities in which they live.

Our learning framework will be based on best practice and principles of accountability. We will collaborate with children, their families and the community to plan, develop, implement and continually improve a high quality curriculum.

We recognise and promote play based learning in which children are able to express their ideas and engage in exploration, imagination, experimentation and creativity.

We recognise that each child's learning pathway takes place within the context of their family and community. For this reason we will promote partnerships with parents and community services in an integrated service model that ensures families are supported to meet the needs of their children.
