About our centre director, Julie Hicks:
Where did you come from? I come from a loving stable family in the UK, I consider myself to be very privileged, my family have always encouraged and supported me in everything I do. After I left school I attended college and completed a two year course and gained my City & Guilds Certificate in Childcare. I then went on to complete my Diploma in childcare as well as my Assessors Qualification. I have always worked with children it is my love and my passion. During my career history I have worked as a Nanny, Assessor, Group Leader, Coordinator, Centre Director and most recently Operations Manager. I moved to Australia 4 years ago and am happy in my current role.
What gets you out of bed in the morning? Sunshine… blue skies… looking forward to what the new day holds. I put my absolute heart and soul into my work and it offers so many different elements, I love to make a difference to children's lives and see the little smiles on their faces, I love their innocence, their honesty their outlook on life and the unconditional love that they give, I love to help people and to over come new challenges. Oh and I can't forget my Border Collie Diesel at the side of my bed as soon as the alarm clock goes off!
What do you feel is unique about your centre? The children and families are fantastic; we have built strong trusting relationships with them they are always loyal and supportive of all we do here. The staff are amazing, we have a pretty much non existent staff turn over for permanent staff with the longest serving staff member here for 8 years and the shortest being 3 years. All staff treats children, families and each other with respect. It is an enjoyable place to come to work every day!
What is your own early years learning philosophy? Always treat children with love, kindness and respect. Show them they are valued and promote their sense of belonging, this will enable them to feel happy and secure and reach their full potential.

Warnbro centre philosophy:
We believe that early childhood is a crucial time in the development of each individual. For this reason we will work in partnership with children and their families to ensure the best possible start in life.
We provide a nurturing environment where each child has the opportunity to learn within the context of caring relationships with carers. Our educators will establish and foster learning partnerships with children and their parents.
We will provide a learning environment that is safe, secure and well maintained. Our environment is inclusive and reflects value and respect for the diversity of children's backgrounds and the communities in which they live.
Our learning framework will be based on best practice and principles of accountability. We will collaborate with children, their families and the community to plan, develop, implement and continually improve a high quality curriculum.
We recognise and promote play based learning in which children are able to express their ideas and engage in exploration, imagination, experimentation and creativity.
We recognise that each child's learning pathway takes place within the context of their family and community. For this reason we will promote partnerships with parents and community services in an integrated service model that ensures families are supported to meet the needs of their children.
