Mount Hutton centre philosophy:

At Mission Australia Early Learning Mount Hutton, we believe that children are resourceful, creative, individual learners. The weekly program is guided around the values stated within the centre philosophy.

We aim to promote a successful learning journey through providing a respectful, nurturing, stimulating and fun environment that promotes a sense of belonging, where children regard themselves as a valued and successful contributor to the community.

We believe that all children should be treated with equality, and their cultural and linguistic diversity embraced and acknowledged.

We believe that mutual respect among staff and families for diversity, equity and inclusion are essential for optimal development and learning. We routinely include learning opportunities that reflect the diverse values of staff, families enrolled at the service and the wider community.

We aim to provide a diverse program that reflects individual and group strengths, interests, cultural beliefs and developmental areas, with a holistic focus on developing the child. Development advances when children are provided with opportunities to practice new skills as well as when they experience a challenge just beyond their present level of mastery.

We believe children learn and grow positive self esteem and self worth when provided with love, positive reinforcement and redirection to positive behavioural outcomes.

Family involvement is actively encouraged and promoted within the learning environment, through open communication, positive and supportive relationships, supporting the families in their parenting roles, and respectful incorporation of individual family beliefs and values.

We believe collaborating with families and the wider community bridges the gap between formalised care and the home setting.

Play is an important vehicle for children's learning and development. Play capitalizes on children's natural curiosity and exuberance.

We aim to provide experiences to empower children's learning and choices through using a wide range of media, whilst incorporating the natural environment to provoke thoughts, wonder, imagination and conservation.

As staff, we acknowledge the importance of life long learning and actively engage in training opportunities as a team and individually to continue our professional development in the early childhood field.

We aim to provide an emergent curriculum, whist incorporating the NSW Belonging, Being and Becoming - Putting the Early Years Framework into Practice. Our curriculum borrows from the practices of Reggio Emilia.
