Mission Australias Dubbo Leadership and Cultural Development Program supports and mentors young Aboriginal people who are at risk of disengaging from school.
Referrals come from local schools, the court system, the NSW Department of Juvenile Justice and other support agencies working in the community. Mission Australia staff build trusting relationships with young people and help them develop the skills, knowledge and experiences to address the challenges they may face while offering broader, alternative opportunities.

This video contains images of the Mission Australia - Special Care Centre at Nhulunbuy. This centre was launched as part of a wider strategy to address harm minimisation, specifically treating the problems caused by the abuse of alcohol and other drug use. This Mission Australia centre delivers two key services: a Sobering Up Shelter and a Rehabilitation Service. The sobering up Shelter is an important first point of intervention, providing safe temporary crisis accommodation for people affected by alcohol or drugs and who may be at risk of harm. Once received into care, clients are assessed for referral to services, such as the Centres residential Rehabilitation Service, for longer term support.
