Three years ago, former Newcastle Knights NRL star Owen Craigie realised he was addicted to gambling. After losing hundreds of dollars a day for years, he has confronted his demons.

Owen now works for Mission Australia in Newcastle as a Education and Training Coordinator, running Gambling Smart workshops to assist Aboriginal community and health workers better identify gambling issues within their community, and among their clients.
SBS’s most recent Living Black program looked at Owen’s journey from problem gambler to community educator.
