Corporate support at Christmas will help us to spread the festive spirit to thousands of disadvantaged people across Australia. Our corporate partners support us in the form of volunteering at Christmas celebrations, in kind collections of food hampers, toiletries & gifts. If you are one of our valued corporate partners we will already be speaking with you about our services requests for support this Christmas and how you would like to be involved. If you are not already involved with MA, at this stage we are already fully subscribed for corporate volunteering. If your organisation would like to assist by undertaking a Christmas collection in your workplace, please see below needs for each state and contact your relevant state for delivery arrangements for this festive season. Please limit expenditure on any gift or voucher to $40. We will be receiving collection goods up until Friday December 14th. Urban Food Market to fundraise for MA in 2010
Food and produce supplier, Urban Food Market, has launched a creative new campaign to fundraise for Mission Australia throughout 2010. During 2010 the Urban Food Market Food Fund will support Mission Australia community services with proceeds raised through the sale of new Urban Food Market / Mission Australia-branded cooler bags, donations generated through their website, and with the provision of food hampers at key times of need, such as the Christmas holiday season. Two Tasmanian victims of car theft were today handed the keys to a rebuilt Toyota Corolla and Daihatsu Applause, by a group of young Tasmanians graduating from Mission Australia’s U-Turn automotive training course. After relocating to Adelaide from Melbourne three years ago, Madee River found that, after a few months of unemployment, he would need to think outside-the-square if he was going to be able to support himself. Broncos lend a hand at Mission Australia's Cafe One on Wickham
Recently Brisbane Broncos players were joined by Rugby League great Alan Langer for a day of volunteering at Mission Australia's Cafe One on Wickham. As part of their partnership with Cafe One, the Broncos provide financial support, home game promotions each season and access to volunteering opportunities for the players. This year, the club introduced the 'Broncos in the Community' program, which involves the players volunteering each Wednesday to work with one of the seven charities supported by the club. University 'Food for Fines' campaign supporting MA homeless services
Over Christmas the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) swapped food for fines at UTS Libraries in Haymarket and Lindfield. While fines need to be imposed in libraries to encourage sharing of the University's resources, staff from the UTS Lending Services saw an opportunity to help the broader community and change the perception associated with fines. The solution came in the form of the 'Food for Fines' initiative, involving the waiving of library fines in exchange for a food donation. UTS Libraries waived up to $30 worth of fines per person, and collected 13 large boxes of non-perishable foodstuffs - all generously donated to Mission Australia.
