Free Live Music at Centro Colonnades, Noarlunga Oct 14.

Five of Adelaide’s freshest bands are turning up the volume at Colonnades Shopping Centre in Noarlunga on Saturday, October 14 to make sure everyone hears about the international “Make Poverty History” campaign.

Organised by Mission Australia’s Reynella Enterprise & Youth Centre (REYC), the four bands - Black Knight, Big Mistake, The Kicks, Finding Grace and Hair on Fire - will be strutting their stuff between 2-6 pm to promote the cause.

The event will also promote this weekend’s STAND UP Against Poverty, part of the Global Call to Action Against Poverty campaign which is being run in Australia by a coalition of aid agencies, community groups, and celebrities.

“Many young people feel really strongly about this issue and want to be part of a movement for positive change,” said Mission Australia’s Nick O’Connor. “We’re hoping to attract a big crowd to the concert at Colonnades to harness some of that energy,” said Mission Australia’s Nick O’Connor.

“The Make Poverty History campaign is a great vehicle to help people re-assess their views on poverty and we figure a Rock’n’Roll concert in the middle of a crowded place is a good way to raise awareness,” he said.

STAND UP is a global event to show world leaders that it's time for them to take a stand against poverty, aiming to raise awareness of the Millennium Development Goal’s eight point plan to halve global poverty.
