Home Tutors

Role Home Tutors 
Description Become a home tutor and teach basic English to a newly-arrived migrant or refugee in their home for 1 hour a week. Volunteers can also teach a community class at a local library, school, church or settlement services provider. Volunteers are needed in metro Sydney, especially Auburn, Bankstown, Blacktown, Cabramatta, Campbelltown, Campsie, Fairfield, Greenacre, Hurstville-St George, the Inner West, Lakemba, Liverpool, Parramatta & Punchbowl. A Criminal History Check is imandatory for all volunteers.

Common Ground Sydney

Role Community Garden Facilitator
Description The position of Community Gardener facilitator is to support formerly homeless, marginalised and disadvantaged residents of Common Ground and the surrounding locality. The Community Gardener/facilitator is intended to assist clients in developing skills/knowledge enabling them to tend to the community garden on site. All materials will be provided. Also creating a constructive environment to encourage social engagement within their community.

Role Pilates Instructor
Description The position of Pilates instructor is to support homeless, marginalised and disadvantaged clients of the Common Ground Sydney community services. This program intends to assist clients with their stress management and workout needs and to create constructive pathways out of homelessness and to be socially engaged with their community.
Hours 1 to 2 hours per week.

Role First Contact
Description The purpose of the role of the First Contact volunteer is to be the first port of call for visitors, contractors, callers and tenants of Common Ground Camperdown.
Hours Negotiable – but at least four hours per shift.

Role Art Teacher
Description The position of Art teacher is to support formerly homeless, marginalised and disadvantaged residents of Common Ground and the surrounding locality. The Art Class is intended to assist clients with developing their artistic and creative side. Also, creating constructive to encourage social engagement within their community.

Role Book Club Facilitator
Description The position of Book Club facilitator is to support formerly homeless, marginalised and disadvantaged residents of Common Ground and the surrounding locality. The Book Club facilitator is intended to assist clients in creating a group dedicated to reading and discussing books, magazine or newspaper articles or any appropriate material. Also creating a constructive environment to encourage social engagement within their community.

Mission Australia Centre

Role Yoga Teacher
Description To provide a Yoga workshop for clients at The Mission Australia Centre and provide feedback on the clients’ progress to the Program Coordinator. This role also requires provision of positive feedback on the student’s progress and encourages the student’s continued focus on achieving their set goals. The role will also include other duties as directed by the Program Coordinator.

Role Art History Teacher
Description We are currently seeking an art history teacher to volunteer at the Mission Australia Centre. At the Mission Australia Centre we have a number of very interested individuals that are always looking to explore many facets of art. The class would like to explore aspects behind artists and their artworks. Facilitating the study would be up to the volunteer.
Hours The session would run once a week for one to two hours for 6 to 8 weeks.

Role Pilates Instructor
Description We are currently seeking a Pilates instructor to volunteer at the Mission Australia Centre. The session would run on once a week for an hour (we are flexible on the day and time) and the sessions would be ongoing. The session will help our clients develop core strength as well as help with the personal relaxation process.

Role Catalyst University Learning Partners
Description The Catalyst University Program has been running at the Mission Australia Centre for over five years, providing students with credit points towards University education. Catalyst University Learning Partners are needed.
