Christmas Parties

  • Activity: Host a Christmas Party for the clients
  • Date: November / December
  • Time: TBC
  • Volunteers: TBC
  • Financial cost estimate: TBC
  • Location: Various
  • Client Group: Various

Part of the work of Mission Australia involves recognising that people experiencing crisis/trauma in their lives need to feel or at least begin to feel a sense of self worth. For the clients in our community services, lack of self-esteem and self worth is a major issue. Even though the support our staff provide does go a long way to help them make positive changes in their lives, attention to improving their surroundings also helps to increase their self worth, self esteem and dignity.

The overall objective of this volunteering is to bring the Christmas spirit to the clients supported by the service.

Team Challenge
The assistance you are providing to Mission Australia is invaluable. As Christmas can be the most difficult time of year for people experiencing homelessness and other complex issues, your support is one of the best gifts anyone can give. Most of our clients (the people we help) are lacking in friend and family support networks, and may risk being left out of the Christmas festivities altogether. Being a charity organisation operating on tight resources, we rely very heavily on the generosity of others to help make Christmas special for our clients. Therefore your gifts make a huge difference in allowing them to take part in festivities and feel cared for.

Receiving a gift, labelled with their name, reflects that Mission Australia and the community believe each individual’s life is valuable, which can help the development of self esteem and self worth.
