No one knew Carol was homeless.

When Carol’s* husband passed away unexpectedly, she not only lost her partner, but she lost her home too.

Carol could no longer afford to pay the mortgage alone. Without enough superannuation to fall back on and the high cost of rent, Carol had no choice but to sleep in a spare room at a local pub.

I thought this would be temporary but it’s starting to feel like forever.
–Carol, 67 years old

Sadly, there are more than 6,000 women over 55 years without a safe place to call home.1

Just as we helped Carol, your support means we can continue to help other vulnerable people find a safe place to call home.

Please help other women like Carol at risk of homelessness this winter.

Often, the homeless are people you’d least expect.

Older women without sufficient superannuation are vulnerable to unexpected events such as the death of a loved one or a health crisis. Without support, they are at risk of homelessness later in life.

How your donation makes a difference

Women over the age of 55 are the fastest growing group of people seeking assistance from homelessness services.1 Your generosity this winter can help provide an older person with:

  • Emergency accommodation and essential items
  • Essential case management and wraparound support to break the cycle of homelessness
  • Transition to permanent homes and support to live independently.
