Rent review

2022 Rent review

Every year Mission Australia Housing carry out two (2) household income reviews (rent reviews) to make sure all tenants are paying the right amount of rent for their property.

There have been some challenges with the current rent review and we have become aware that some tenants may not have received the letter advising of their rent changes before changes were made to their rent payments. Some tenants may have also had their Centrepay rent deductions change before they received their letter.

We are deeply sorry if you have been impacted by this. We are working to resolve this issue and we will provide a further update to impacted tenants early in the New Year. We are working to ensure that all tenant rent charges are correct and will be making any rent adjustments required.

For tenants who have had an increase to their rent, to ensure that you are not impacted we will reimburse your rent account for any increase from the date of your increase in December to the 9th January 2023. This will be processed in the first week of January and appear in your rent statement as a credit.

Please note, that this will only apply for tenants who have returned their income details to us or provided us with permission to assess their income with Centrelink. If you have not returned your income details, please contact the Mission Australia Housing office in the New Year to discuss.

We are also taking steps to improve our rent review process to make sure this issue does not occur again in the future.  Thank you for your patience as we work through this.

Please note our office will be closed from 3pm Friday 23rd December and we will return on Tuesday 3rd January. We will respond to any calls or emails then. Our after-hours call centre will remain available for urgent matters.

Wishing you a safe, restful and relaxing Christmas and New Year.
