Make a charity donation to help Australia’s youth

Because of charitable donations we receive from people like you we can continue to help Australia’s youth. This is the story of homeless teenager Brianna*.

Domestic violence and homelessness
We first met Brianna three years ago, when she was just 17 years-old. Brianna had been the victim of years of escalating domestic violence at the hands of her father. At an all-time low Brianna escaped her father and moved between friend’s houses, unsure of where this new life would lead her. Brianna had been homeless for three weeks before being referred by local police to Mission Australia’s The Grove Youth Outreach & Support Service (formerly known as Lemongrove Lodge).

Help and support for a struggling youth
From day one Brianna was determined to do better for herself and increase her opportunities to ensure she never becomes like her mother and father: drug addicts who have been incarcerated. She was so sure she would do whatever she had to do to never be in another position where she could become homeless and at risk.

By offering Brianna stable accommodation, support and guidance, and through Brianna’s own perseverance and resilience she completed her Cert 2, 3 and a diploma through TAFE in Community Services. Three years on Brianna is now 20 years old and has recently been accepted into University to complete her Bachelor of Social Science to further her education.
