We’re honoured to welcome His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia as the new Patron of Mission Australia.

The Governor-General and Mrs Hurley are loyal and passionate advocates for Mission Australia.

In recent years they have met many of our staff, volunteers and people we help at our services. On multiple occasions, they’ve visited and commended our Junaa Buwa! Centre for Youth Wellbeing in Coffs Harbour – our residential program that provides a safe and stable environment for vulnerable young people to make positive changes in their lives.

We thank His Excellency for accepting the role as Patron of Mission Australia, and look forward to partnering with him as we work towards our goal of reducing homelessness and strengthening communities across the country.

We also thank our outgoing Patron, the former Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove. We express our appreciation for his support during his five-year term and his sincere interest in our work and our people, which included four visits to our programs and services. Our staff, volunteers and the people we help greatly appreciated these visits.
