Nothing beats the amazing feeling of leaving the salon with a fresh haircut. Sadly, for people experiencing homelessness, simple luxuries like getting haircuts are out of reach, with many foregoing self-care for other necessities such as food and groceries.

Hairdresser, Kristie Kesic joined forces with nine talented Brisbane hairdressers to donate their services through free haircuts and styling treatments for people in crisis accommodation.
“We’ve all come together to give people who are homeless a hair experience that some may never have had before.”

“Our goal is to share a smile and boost confidence. Because we all know that a good haircut can help to change your day and how you feel.”

Janet Maher from Mission Australia who helped at the event was in awe of the hairdressers’ generosity and the transformation she saw in people.

“After having their haircut, some of the clients kept saying ‘I haven’t felt this good in years,’ they still talk about the event to this day.”

“The hairdressers were amazing, they went above and beyond to make the clients feel respected.”

“This simple action had a positive impact on their mental health, particularly their self-esteem."
