We recommended that the National Urban Policy: acknowledge and treat social housing as essential social infrastructure and create pathways for delivery at the scale required; adopt a National Framework for Mandatory Inclusionary Zoning; and broaden the concept of place-based approaches to include work focused on tackling entrenched disadvantage.
Mission Australia stated our strong support to end 'no grounds' evictions, both during periodic tenancies and at the end of fixed-term agreements, in any amendments made to the NSW Residential Tenancies Act 2010.
Mission Australia recommended that: any regulatory changes must not penalise or prevent private landlords who support people who are homeless; a detailed economic analysis be undertaken and made public on the impact of a levy under various scenarios; and the revenue generated by the potential introduction of a levy go to funding homeless and housing support.
