This summary report details the findings from the more than 1,500 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people who responded to the Mission Australia Youth Survey 2018. This year was the first time that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people identified mental health as the top issue in Australia.
The National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Youth Report draws on the findings of our Youth Survey 2017. The survey captured the views, concerns, experiences and aspirations of 24,055 young people, 1,265 of whom identified as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
Mission Australia’s Young people’s experiences of homelessness report released August 2018 reveals that 1 in 6 Youth Survey respondents had an experience of homelessness. The report compares those who have no experience of homelessness to those who have couch surfed and/or had an experience in transitional housing/living in a refuge.
