Each year, we ask young people aged 15 to 19 in Australia to share their challenges, concerns and experiences in Australia’s largest annual survey of young people. The report details findings from 17,480 responses to the Youth Survey 2024. Young people identified concerns relating to the environment, equity and discrimination, the economy and financial matters and mental health.
A breakdown of the Youth Survey 2024 findings for each state and territory can be found here. Each state/territory sub-report includes a summary of key findings presented as an infographic summary as well as data tables.
In July 2024, we conducted a co-design workshop to unpack Mission Australia's inbuilt Youth Survey wellbeing and risk of harm notifications to ensure that they provide a bridge to appropriate suports for young people. Learn more about our approach in the next Evidence and Insights snapshot.
This report was produced in collaboration with youth mental health research and advocacy organisation, Orygen. The report aims to better understand the impacts that concern about financial security and financial hardship have in the lives of young people and is based on data from the 2023 Mission Australia Youth Survey.
