The Family Mental Health Support Service (FMHSS) is an early intervention and prevention support service for children aged 0-18 years (and their families) who are at risk of, or experiencing, issues relating to mental health. Participants can access any FMHSS via self-referral, through other community support agencies, or at the suggestion of family or friends. Formal referrals are not required.

Who we assist

Assistance provided to children and young people 0 - 18 years and their families living in the Liverpool LGA who are at risk or affected by mental health issue.

Eligibility criteria

Childen 0-18 years with a focus on 6-12 year olds.
Children at risk of or affected by mental illness.
Clients need to reside in the local Liverpool area.
Priority of access will help people who are the most disadvantaged in the community. These are families and children who may have come to the attention of the child protection system who remain vulnerable but are not receiving structured intervention, and young people leaving out-of-home care.
Children or young persons under the care of the state child protection agency are not eligible for this service.

Referral process

Families can self refer.
Referrals are also made by agencies and schools.
