Springboard provides tailored and intensive wraparound support to young people aged 16 - 21 years who are preparing to exit, or have exited, residential out-of-home care and are not engaged in education, training or employment. Long-term employment is secured for the young people by re-engaging with appropriate education, training and/or supported employment opportunities. Based in Dandenong, Case Workers provide a trauma-informed and therapeutic approach to case management support. Duration of support is not time-bound, and determined by individual need. As Lead Agency, Mission Australia delivers Springboard across the whole of Melbourne's Southern Metropolitan region through the Southern Metropolitan Region Springboard Consortium.

Who we assist

Better Futures supports young people who have been placed in OoHC ( Foster Care, Kinship Care, Residential Care or a Lead Tenant placement ).

Eligibility criteria

Better Futures assists young people aged 15 and 9 months, and who have be residing in a Foster Care, Kinship Care, Residential Care or a Lead Tenant placement and be subject to either a Care by Secretary Order, a Long-Term Care Order or a Family Reunification Order. Better Futures can provide support to all eligible client up until the age of 21 years.

Referral process

All referrals to Better Futures will come via the Department of Health & Human Services Southern Region.
