Better Futures provides flexible and intensive wraparound support to young people aged 16-21 years who are preparing to exit, or have exited, residential out-of-home care and are not engaged in education, training or employment. Co-located with complementary service providers, Better Futures delivers long-term employment and education outcomes for highly disengaged young people through trauma-informed and therapeutic case management and outreach support. Duration of support provided by Case Workers is not time-bound, and determined by individual need. Mission Australia is a partner in the Northern Metropolitan Region Springboard Consortium, working with Melbourne City Mission (Lead Agency) and the Salvation Army Crossroads.

Who we assist

Disengaged young people between 16 and 21 years of age who are currently living in, or have lived in, residential out-of-home care.

Eligibility criteria

Young people who are aged 16 to 18 in residential out-of-home care, or up to 21 years who have left residential care.

Referral process

Clients may be referred by other services or self-refer, by contacting the service by phone, in person or via email.
