SHIFT provide outreach Alcohol and other drug (AOD) counselling and support for young people experiencing AOD use issues, connecting with them in environments where they feel safe & comfortable. Referrals can be accepted from any source, including the young person. SHIFT is a voluntary service where young people have the choice to engage. Goals and engagement are informed by the young person. Every referral will be assessed for suitability and support levels will be determined on the needs and complexities of each individual young person. There is no limit on the length of engagement. This is determined by the worker and the young person.

Who we assist

Young people between the ages of 12-25 years living in the metro area, with boundaries of City of Swan, City of Wanneroo, Town of Kwinana and City of Armadale, who are experiencing Alcohol and Other Drug and AOD and related Mental Health issues or other co occurring complexities.

Eligibility criteria

A young person between the ages of 12-25 years at risk of or are experiencing AOD and AOD Issues and is able to attend weekly appointment.

SHIFT provides the following interventions:
-Early intervention
-One-on-One AOD counselling & support
-Harm reduction information & strategies
-Relapse prevention
-Individualised care plan
-We work with other services
-Assertive outreach
-Psychology
