Safe House Mornington Island

Children & Families

Jalaa Nyalmungan Mangarda, the Mornington Island Safe House, is a place to stay for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people who have entered the statutory child protection system to enable them to remain in community while their long-term protection needs are being assessed. Children and young people from Mornington Island who have previously been removed from the Island can also stay at the Safe House while they await reunification with family or kin. The Safe House service also provides Tertiary Family Support services and support to local foster and kinship carers.
