Partnering with Maggie Beer Foundation
Working together to enrich food, dignity and connection in aged care.

Partnering for better aged care
Strategic partnerships are vital to our work. By collaborating with organisations that share our values, we can achieve greater impact together. Our partnership with the Maggie Beer Foundation has been a wonderful example of this.
Improving nutrition and wellbeing
The Maggie Beer Foundation, funded by the Australian Federal Government’s Department of Health and Aged Care, delivers education and training to improve the dining, food, and nutritional outcomes for older people in aged care.
Food that brings dignity and joy
At all our specialist aged care facilities, food is about more than nutrition — it’s about enjoyment, dignity, and connection. That’s why our chefs are participating in a one-year program with the Maggie Beer Foundation to enhance the way we provide quality food and meals to our residents.
Chef mentorship and training
As part of this mentorship program, our chefs participate in training to develop new menus approved by dietitians and speech pathologists to ensure the food is both nutritious and enjoyable for our residents.
Charles Chambers Court leads the way
Charles Chambers Court was the first of our aged care facilities to take part in a five-day intensive program with Chef Amanda from the Maggie Beer Foundation. The program worked not only with the kitchen staff but with the leisure and lifestyle teams to discuss how residents feel about the current food options on site.
Residents enjoy new menus
Our residents enjoyed sampling a new menu with choices such as potato croquettes with parmesan and lemon zest and slow cooked lamb shoulder.
Participating in the Maggie Beer Foundation training is one more way that Mission Australia is supporting our aged care residents, and we’re excited to see the long-term impact of this program on their health and wellbeing.
