Overview

The Tenancy Support Impact Summary examined the impact of Mission Australia’s tenancy support services over five years. The report found a 52% increase in people seeking assistance to remain living in their homes or move into safer, more secure housing. Between 2023 and 2024 the fastest growing groups of people seeking support were employed people, young people, or those escaping family and domestic violence.

The findings confirm that early intervention tenancy support is effective. Almost all people remained living in their homes and avoided homelessness. With a stable house and the right support, people also felt happier about their living conditions, wellbeing, mental health and relationships.

As more people face the threat of homelessness, the case for scaling prevention and early intervention responses has never been stronger. The report supports Mission Australia’s calls for a Homelessness Prevention Transformation Fund, a boost in tailored tenancy support services and support for at-risk families and young people.
