About the Coffs Harbour Supported Temporary Accommodation Project
Mission Australia has been present on the Mid North Coast for over 20 years, delivering a range of programs and services from our Mission Australia Centre on Duke Street, as well as long term social & affordable housing and temporary accommodation. We manage over 1,500 social and affordable homes across the Mid North Coast.
Mission Australia and Temporary Accommodation
Mission Australia Housing are contracted by NSW government to provide temporary accommodation to people experiencing homelessness. Due to the lack of affordable and appropriate housing in the region, hotels and motels have been used to give people in need a place to stay. However, this option is costly in a holiday destination like Coffs Harbour and often does not always meet the needs of our clients.
Hotels and motels are also unreliable options, as rooms are sometimes unavailable during peak periods.

What is Temporary Accommodation
Temporary Accommodation (TA) provides short term stays in low-cost motels or caravan parks for people experiencing homelessness. TA is offered by NSW Government and some community housing providers including Mission Australia Housing (MAH). The length of stay depends on individual needs. Most people stay for a few days and then extend if required.
To continue receiving temporary accommodation, clients are required to follow the accommodation rules, stay in contact with support providers and work on a support plan to help find long term stable accommodation.
