Based in the Sydney suburb of Manly, the centre also aims to provide overnight care and safety for intoxicated or drug-affected in its Complex Care Unit (CCU). Personalised case-management enables the staff to develop an intervention plan that responds to each resident’s health, housing, education and life skills needs. When unable to offer direct assistance, Fairlight Centre staff refer people to other services and facilities. Our Fairlight Centre also offers various levels of supported accommodation, depending on the client. Who does the centre help?Fairlight Centre offers support for homeless men, or those at risk of being homeless, who are aged 18 or over. We accept referrals from detoxification and rehabilitation units as well as other agencies and self-referrals. Other issues clients face at Fairlight Centre include:
Residents undergo a phone assessment prior to an interview for admittance to the Living Skills Program. All CCU clients can be bathed, given dinner and clothing as well as accommodation. With help from our 24-hour staff support and case management over a three-month period, residents are supported to work on maintaining their sobriety and developing a plan for moving onto independent living. Limited transitional housing is available to those that have attained some stability in their lives where residents here have minimal support from staff and greater freedom to move on with their lives. Fairlight Centre works closely with local and other services – including health and community centres, housing providers and law enforcement agencies – to provide continued improvement to the homeless, or those at risk of being homeless.
